PAGE TO STAGE

Recently Mrs Hamilton’s S4 participated in a Scottish Youth Theatre workshop which was about taking Shakespeare from the Page to the Stage.  Most of the S4 found it an enjoyable morning.  They played drama games which helped them improve their confidence and acting skills.  They were given a setting and had to improvise a scene by deciding how the characters would talk, act and react to one antoher.  None of them had ever done anything like this before and were very happy that they had decided to do it.  They thought it was interesting and the games they played were very enjoyable.  They said they would like to do other workshops and different workshops like this at school.  SYT are holding a summer festival and many S4s said that they would be happy to apply for it after their experience at the workshop.

On Wednesday 1st October Auchinleck Academy’s Brass and Pipe Bands took to the stage at the East Ayrshire Gala concert. Music groups from all over East Ayrshire met at the Grand Hall, Kilmarnock to produce a variety of thrilling performances from traditional Scottish music to modern rock and pop songs. Both the bands played exceptionally well. One member of the audience described the event as “spectacular”.

All the pupils involved had a fantastic time and judging by the applause they received, so did the audience!
